i had this idea for a long time, a year or more, and it finally happened this weekend. these things just need to build up pressure like tectonic plates until they explode. i only wish i had a machine that turned scottish accents into jamaican ones. i was almost going to put chunky killing joke/mad capsule markets guitars down at one point, but you can't always be doing that (see the end of touching opening ceremony); i just wanted the fattest, squarest kick i could make. in the end i didn't need it, and instead of going down a sparser, neptunes-style, backing, i ended up throwing more drum loops and distortion effects (mostly for the compression) than my computer could handle - the latter adjustements were entirely blind, as i had to tweak something and then mix it down. this is very much the most compressed track i have ever done - look at the oscilliscope in your mp3 player if you don't believe me, there's so much clipping. and you know how i hate compression - i guess that's the difference between me and dj gallow slutt (i'm still grilly when i'm writing this). even the stuff that's not actually clipping on the final mix is probably clipping on a distortion somewhere in the mix.

anyway, enough of that jazz. it's not quite how i imagined it would turn out - especially the noise solo - but it's done.
